In our house, Christmas doesn’t start until after Thanksgiving, but today I spent a sweet afternoon with my youngest child shopping for Christmas presents. We were shopping early because the deadline for completing our gift boxes is tomorrow. I could get very sentimental telling about how he chose gifts for children he doesn’t even know, but in reality, he chose what he really wanted for himself and grudgingly helped me pack the shoeboxes, all the while telling me which things he really wanted to keep and not send away. Yes, he’s young and still very egocentric, but I can only hope that each year this process will get a little easier and more joyful for him.
Generally, I don’t talk about what we Give, but I just felt like I should share now. So, just so you know, until the end of the year, we are donating to Samaritan’s Purse – Operation Christmas Child . This organization provides a shoebox of gifts to children all over the world. You can buy toys and supplies and pack up a shoebox yourself, or go online and pack a virtual shoebox. That’s what we do with the Business donations, so a part of everything we earn is given to someone who needs it more than us.
Then, after Christmas, our Business Giving switches to the Women’s Program run by the same organization.
There are so many needs, at home and worldwide, what we do as individuals barely makes a dint, but even a little is far far better than nothing at all.
Wishing you a Blessed Day!
